TAG

Talented and gifted...I wouldn't have believed it if you're dad didn't hear it too, but we're convinced you said your very first complete sentence at 13 months old.  "I wan tu geh dow."  It certainly sounded like "I want to get down." to your dad and me.

Not only did you say it, but you said it 3 times in a row, as you crawled towards the end of our bed, trying to get down.  Amazing.  Simply amazing and a little creepy.  Actually very creepy.  It's making me think that your dad and I shouldn't use some of the words we use around you.

BABY LOVES DISCO

Baby loves disco, or not. You and I went to H&M's grand opening weekend to check out their Baby Loves Disco event. A big dance party for little kids and their parents. A dance party with real music, not nursery songs. Thank goodness for me. I thought this was right up your alley because you love other kids and love dancing to music even more. What a perfect combination.

Of course as soon as we arrived, you had no interest in the music or kids. All you wanted to do was play with the toys. The exact same toys that we have at home, minus the abacus. Things I learned from that day: you must not like techno music and you really like the abacus. Guess what's getting added to your Christmas shopping list...

TEDDY BEAR

Month after month this teddy bear has been busy over the past year.  By the looks of it, so have you.  Someone's not such a little baby anymore...

3 BEARS

"Goldilocks snuck into the three bears' house. Goldilocks tasted Papa's bowl of porridge. It was too hot! Mama Bear's was too cool. But the little bowl of porridge was just right!"  And like the 3 bears, we now have 3 different kinds of milk in our refrigerator.  I refuse to drink 1% and your dad refuses to drink skim.  Now you throw whole milk into the mix and buying that counter-depth refrigerator may not have been such a good idea.  It seems to be filled with nothing but milk these days.

I have a feeling the 3 bears phenomenon could easily carry on into other things as well.  Smooth vs. chunky peanut butter, margarine vs. butter, white vs wheat bread.  These are just a few differences between your dad and me.  With our luck, it'll be none of the above for you because it'll be something completely different.  Go figure.

ADVANCED

At your one-year check, you seem to have finally grown into your cheeks.  According to Dr. Purcell's percentiles, at 21 pounds and 30 inches tall, you're in the 45th percentile for weight and 76th percentile for height.  Not only that, but she says you're "advanced."  A word every parent wants to hear from their pediatrician.

Why so advanced?  She saw you stand up on your own without grabbing anything for support.  Something a lot of kids your age can't do?  Not only only that, but you could tell Dr. Purcell was going to leave the room and you waived your hand and said, "Bye-bye."  Pretty advanced stuff for a one-year old, I guess.
